General Manager - Foreign Bank

New York based branch of a foreign financial institution is currently seeking an experienced general manager for their New York City branch.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all aspects of the operations of the branch and the maintenance of safe & sound banking practices.
  • Ensure the branch operates in compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Protect the integrity of the branch by ensuring that it operates in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements, abides by the Branch’s Code of Conduct and promotes compliance in the manner in which business is conducted.
  • Establish procedures for monitoring and controlling credit risks to ensure adherence to delegated/approved credit limits for country corporate entities and individual accounts.
  • Coordinates regulatory reporting including but not limited to those required in accordancewith banking regulators, prudential guidelines, loan provision reporting and collateral assessments.
  • Take responsibility for the branch's financial and operating budgets, market branch products and provide support in the development of new business products; keeps current on all issues relating to business development and strategy and deliver on the annual operating budget and financial goals of the branch to include meeting balance sheet, revenue and profit targets.
  • Oversees branch's human resources management and employee relations; ensures effective succession planning for key employees; provides retention incentive programs; maintains a competitive pay structure and benefits programs; regularly and effectively communicates with employees; ensures policies and procedures are effective and appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Head Office to ensure that the branch operates consistently with the bank's policies, code of governance and both the US and home country regulations.

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor's degree and at least 10 years experience in day to day management of a US based foreign financial institution.
